Need to compare 2 lists—or List A and List B side by side—and see what doesn’t match? Paste below. You’ll see what’s only on one side and what’s in both—whether you’re comparing text, a spreadsheet paste, or uploaded files.

Decide what List A and List B mean

Before you paste, be clear about each side—for example “yesterday’s file” vs “today’s,” or “people I follow” vs “people who follow me.” If you swap A and B, the results still look fine, but you’ll act on the wrong side.

  • Put one name, email, or ID on each line.
  • If the paste looks messy, leave “trim” and “ignore empty lines” on.

After you hit Compare

  1. Intersection — items in both lists. If this is empty, something is probably off with formatting.
  2. A only / B only — the real differences you usually care about.
  3. Duplicates — repeats inside one list that can throw off your counts.

What’s the fastest way to compare two lists?

Paste both sides, leave the defaults, click Compare lists, then check A only, B only, and Intersection.

Can I paste from Excel or upload a CSV?

Yes. Paste from Excel, or upload TXT, CSV, or JSON. If each row has several columns, use first-column mode so you only compare the ID.

Why do I get almost no matches?

Extra spaces and capital letters are the usual culprits. See tips for Excel paste.
